Hi there, it's Mark here, and it's time for your July edition of Ultimate Hope Quiz Superior. And for the second month in a row, I've decided to record this podcast on one of the hottest days of the year. But this time I have a pint of lemon squash with me, so we will get through it. As always, and I have 8 rounds and 40 questions. At the end of the quiz, you will receive a rating. The higher score, the better the rating. And if you manage to achieve a perfect score of 40 out of 40, you will earn the ultimate rating of Ultimate Pub Quiz. Super genius. This month we have some appropriately summer themed rounds. Alongside many other things as well, including the turn of a round that I haven't played for quite a long time. So I'm looking forward to dusting that one out. Alright, then I'm ready to start, and I hope you are too. Let's play the first two rounds of this July edition of Ultimate Pub Quiz Super Genius. Round one is our regular round, it says in the phrase. I'm about to give you a phrase, and all of the answers in this round can be spelt using letters from that phrase. So if your answer doesn't contain a letter that's in the phrase, it will not be the correct answer. And this month, as it's July, your phrase is schools out for summer, which is spelt S for Sierra, C for Charlie, it for hotel, O for October, O for October, L for Lima, S for Sierra, O for Oscar, U for uniform, T for Tango, F the Foxtrot, O for Oscar, R for Romeo, S for Sierra, U for uniform, M for Mike, M for Mike, E for Echo, R for Romeo. So best of luck as we play this schools out for summer, it says in the phrase round. Question one. Kevin Bacon plays a teenager who tries to overturn a small town's dancing ban in which 1980s movie. Remember all the answers in this round can be spelt using letters from the phrase schools out for summer. Kevin Bacon plays a teenager who tries to overturn a small town's dancing ban in which 1980s movie? Question two. The human body typically has twenty three pairs of what? Question three. So do your best to avoid it as it will definitely be wrong. And your answer options for this red herring round are all poker terms. And those options are river, full house, deal, pot, split, and poker face. So very best of luck as we play round two, a poker terms edition of the Red Herring Round. Question 1 Which of these poker terms is also the title of UK number one single by Lady Gargar? River Full House Deal Pot Split or Porkaface Which of these Poker Terms is also the title of UK number one single by Lady Gargar? River Full House Deal Pot Split or Porkerface Question 4 Which of these poker terms is also the name of the second largest city in Croatia? River Full House Deal Pot Split or Porkerface Which of these poker terms is also the name of the second largest city in Croatia? River Full House Deal Pot Split or Porkerface And Question 5, final question of this second round. During the 1980s Bob Munkhouse hosted the bingo-based game show Bob's Watts River Full House Deal Pot Split or Porkerface. During the 1980s Bob Monkhouse hosted the bingo-based game show Bob's Watts. River Full House Deal Pot Split or Pokerface. And that is your first rounds done. It's time to reveal the answers. Give yourself a point for everyone that you got correct. Round one was that it says in the phrase round. And all of your answers had to be spelled using letters from the phrase schools out for summer. And question one. Kevin Bacon plays a teenager who tries to overturn a small town's dancing ban in the 1980s movie Footloose. Question two. Question three. In 1964, the Rolling Stones had a UK number one single with the song Little Red Rooster. And question five, the word that means to laugh joyfully, that is also the name of a comedy website founded in the year 2000 is Chortle. So that's a final point for that round if you said chortle. Round two was a Poker Terms themed edition of the Red Herring Round. And your answer options for this round were River, Full House, Deal, Pot, Split, and Poker Face. And question one, the poker term that is also the title of UK number one single by Lady Gargar is Poker Face. Question two, the poker term that is also the name of a coastal town in Kent is Deal. Question three. The poker term that is also the first name of an actor who had roles in the films Stand By Me and Indian Jones and the Last Crusade is River because it was River Phoenix. So I don't know if you said River. Question 4. The poker term that is also the name of the second largest city in Croatia is Split. And question five. During the 1980s, Bob Monkhouse hosted the bingo-based game show, Bob's Full House. That means that the red herring in that round was pot. So very well done if you manage to avoid that. Okay then, it's time to move on to rounds three and four. And round three is this month's wordplay round. Question one. Which large animal is an anagram of Pin Feather Canal? And phonetically, that is spelled P for Papa, I for India, N for November, F for Foxtrot, E for Echo, A for Alpha, T for Tango, E for Hotel, E for Echo, R for Oreo, C for Charlie, E for Alpha, N for November, A for Alpha, L for Lima. Which weather condition can you spell out if you write down in this order the chemical symbols for the elements of thorium, uranium, neodymium, and erbium? Okay, we're not gonna really answer just yet as we're about to play round four. So you've still got time to work out some of those anagrams and initials if you need to. And round four this month is a very old round that I've decided to slightly tweak and bring back, and it's a round called The Real Deal. So for each question, I will give you two titles. One of those titles is generally the title of an episode of a sitcom, and the other one is not. You just need to give me the correct title for each question. The one with the English trifle or the one with the holiday armadillo? Which of these is a real title of an episode of Friends? The one with the English Trifle or the one with the holiday armadillo? Question two Which of these is a real title of an episode of Only Fools and Horses? The Harder They Fall or A Touch of Glass? Which of these is a real title of an episode of Only Fools and Horses? Appraisals or resignations and question five final question of this round Which of these is the real title of an episode of Blackadder? Potato or Parsnip? Question two Crave Froth is an anagram of the mode of transport the hovercraft. Question three The famous 1969 children's picture book that has the initials T V H C is the very hungry caterpillar. Question four. The 19th century US president who has the initials JQE is John Quincy Adams. And question five was this month's element spelling question. And if you write down in this order the chemical symbols for the elements for thorium, uranium, neodymium, and erbium, you get the weather condition thunder. That's because the symbol for thorium is TH, uranium is U, neodymium is N D, and Ebium is ER. Put them all together and you get thunder. And round four was the real deal round, and I was asking you to spot the genuine sitcom episode titles. And question one of the titles, the one with the English trifle or the one with the holiday armadillo, the real Friends episode title is the one with the holiday armadillo. Question two of the titles The Heart of The Fall or A Touch of Glass, the real Only Fools and Horses episode title is A Touch of Glass. And it's the episode that includes the very famous Falling Chandelier scene. So I'll done if you said a touch of glass. Question three of the titles Marge vs. the Monorail or Homer vs. the Helicopter. The genuine Simpsons episode title is Marge vs. the Monorail. Question four of the titles Appraisals or Resignations. The genuine title of an episode from the UK version of the office is Appraisals. And question five from the options Potato or Parsnip. The real Blackadder episode title is Potato. So it's a final point for that round if you said potato. And here we are at the halfway stage of this month's quiz. This month I am calling it the hydration break. Which is very apt because I am indeed going to hydrate myself with some of that pint of lemon squash that I mentioned at the start of the show. Right then, hopefully you're feeling nicely hydrated and you are ready to continue with the rest of this July edition of Ultimate Pub Quiz Super Genius. It's time for round 5, and this month it is a round that I like to call Play Your Codes Right.
